The HITLER COMPARISON

The arrogant and hypocritical actions of the mayor of the City of New London recently hit a new low. When the New London mayor came out on his own face book page by re-posting the Hitler likeness image and then keeping it up & posted demonstrated a level of delight, not outrage with the comparison. Then publicly through any media outlet that would run his story denouncing the portrayal of himself as “Hitler like” further demonstrated not his outrage but his pleasure and pride in such a comparison. Why would someone outraged by something perpetuate it publicly and extending the personal anger frustration, anger and outrage? In reality no one would do that, any reasonable person would delete such a posting and not discuss it again. But the mayor of New London has proven routinely that he is not a reasonable man.

Look at the following comparisons:

·         When we look at Hitler and the mayor of New London we see that the mayor of New London and Hitler both possess the uncanny ability to capture the audience with their oratory skills.

·         When we look at Hitler and the mayor of New London we see that the mayor of New London and Hitler were both personally very determined and high-handed men who each demonstrated they are narcissistic enough to believe their ideals were/are better than anyone else's.

·         When we look at Hitler and the mayor of New London we see that the mayor of New London and Hitler both exhibit "counteractive narcism," a type that is stimulated by real or imagined insult or injury.   The characteristics of this personality type include: holding grudges, low tolerance for criticism, excessive demands for attention, inability to express gratitude, a tendency to belittle, bully, and blame others, desire for revenge, persistence in the face of defeat, extreme self-will, self-trust, inability to take a joke, and compulsive criminality. Hitler and the New London mayor exhibit these characteristics (and others) to an extreme degree and lacked the offsetting qualities that round out a balanced personality.

·         When we look at Hitler’s nightly monologues to his post-dinner guests demonstrate that he saw himself as an expert on everything, much like the monologues of the mayor of New London at any venue in which he speaks.

·         When we look at Hitler and the mayor of New London we see that the mayor of New London and Hitler both exhibit rigidity, due to their inability or refusal to change in any significant way, was one key feature of their uncanny similarities in life.

It was written of Hitler by a boyhood friend “The most outstanding trait in my friend’s character was, as I had experienced myself, the unparalleled consistency in everything that he had said and did.  There was in his nature something firm, inflexible, immovable, obstinately rigid, which manifested itself in his profound seriousness and was at the bottom of all his other characteristics.  Adolf simply could not change his mind or his nature” - August Kubizek

Can you imagine this being written by a close friend of the mayor of New London about him? Change the name and it fits like a custom tailored suit.

The similarities between the characters of Adolph Hitler and the mayor of New London are far too numerous to completely outline here. This brief outline provides enough insight for anyone with the time or desire to think it through to see that the mayor of New London kept the post on his face book page and the story alive in the media because he was apparently truly flattered by the comparison that was made. These character traits of the mayor of the City of New London are why things will only deteriorate further as long as the current administration is in power.
