OUTRAGEOUS ARROGANCE

Outrageous arrogance routinely exhibited by some elected officials is readily accepted by the communities that these officials are elected to serve. Come time for the next election cycle all of the arrogance and disrespect to the community if forgotten and the same people are re elected.

Today a posting from Face Book was shared with Polita Wonk.

Daryl Justin Finizio City vehicles (of which 1-NL is) can park where necessary when addressing storm response. I drove throughout the City today stopping in to check with City Hall staff (when this picture was taken), along with DPW HQ, and checking with crew chiefs in the field; this while also working from my home office where I am now. I was up till @1:30am last night monitoring our preparations and had calls with the Fire Chief, DPW Director, CL&P, Council President Hyslop and others starting at 7:30am today. I will continue to work with City staff to address our storm needs and park wherever necessary to check in with them. After your recent inflammatory posts, I should not respond to this, but as it is being circulated on various web sites (that can only be appropriately called hate sites) I felt this was the most neutral thread on which to address these matters. I will not respond further and find it sad that during a storm in our City Gadflys, like yourself, choose to occupy your time with such negativity.

Here I will play the role of a prime time reporter and tell you what DJF actually said.

“I am the big cheese. I will park my mayor mobile anywhere I want. I may be paid a salary but being expected to work late on all this crap for the city is infringing on my life. You all hate me because I am so great. I respond to these comments because I cannot stop myself.”

There was another Face Book post by one that opposes the mayor of New London in response to what looks to be another job created for one of the mayor supporters.

Susan Plunkett Is there a city council meeting tonight? If Laura Natusch gets this job just remember that she will only have it for 22 months. That sounds better then 2 years. How much more damage can they do in 22 months? We should start up a fund for a huge going away party for November 2015.

This post is utterly ridiculous in the shadow of the November 2013 New London City Council elections. The mayor was completely successful is seating his “Dream Council”. Ms. Plunket, look at the reality of local politics, the vocal opposition was unable to turn out sufficient voters to even make a respectable showing. The opposition to the mayor failed miserably in November 2013, why would you think the opposition to the mayor and his “Dream Council” can do better in November 2015?

The mayor and his team have heart and determination; they have proven that in two elections. They are completely inept in managing the day to day operation of the city of New London; they have proven that repeatedly also. Memories are short and November 2015 is almost 2 years away. The mayor will get his second term. That is the reality and it is a terrible thing for the city of New London.
