How much is too much?

Election Day is just 11 days off and in New London things have become even more of a circus. (http://theday.com/article/20131025/NWS05/310259950) Today administration columnist David Collins warns voters not to vote for Keith Robbins, Michael Passero, Michael Tranchida, Marie Friess-Mcsparran or Katelin Teel. This is all based upon what appeared to be honest and sincere answers at the New London Landmarks candidate forum. The answers seemed real and relevant as far as one can tell from a jumpy internet simulcast of the forum. Other candidates had similar concerns yet Collins as columnist for the administration handpicked a select few to identify as not to be elected. Interesting for sure as these five candidates would be some of the best choices to move the city forward.

Is Collins suggesting that Natusch, Richardson, Dominguez, Stuller, Downey or any of the other candidates are a better choice than any of these five Collins targets of the day? That would be a tough sell.

Comments and posts around on the social media websites   identified Collins, along with another Day reporter and mayor Finizio as the sole receivers of the latest New London candidate’s campaign filings. The statements went as far as to question why would Collins post the information on the PATCH alluding to the possibility that it had to be mayor Finizio that posted the filing anonymously on the PATCH. (http://newlondon.patch.com/groups/truth-new-london/p/oh-what-a-tangled-web-we-weave-when-first-we-practice-to-device_f4c2b719). That conclusion is probably correct since Collins attacks Passero in the piece today but did not share the fact that Passero also received a $100 donation from Michael Buscetto III.  Logic points to mayor Finizio as the perpetrator in this case. Not an honorable act by an elected chief executive, but we are talking about Finizio after all.

The New London Fire Fighters and Labor Unions as a whole have done considerable damage to their image with the exposure of votes cast at the Central Labor Council candidate’s endorsement meeting of October 21, 2013. They did not promote the union movement as a whole in a positive manner. What happened to solidarity? What happened to confidentiality and privacy? These actions by the union person or persons that released the information about specific votes and how many unions were represented to Whale Tales for Face Book publication have only reinforced the lengths that unions will go to in order to get what they want. They will stop at nothing and stoop to breaking confidentiality and camaraderie with their fellow union members. It has been alleged that it was New London Fire Fighters that leaked the information; they have already demonstrated their greedy nature. As a result we all know the true thugs and bullies that they are. Is this the image that the leadership of the Central Labor Council want thrown in the public eye? Why is the Central Labor Council still silent on what these members have done? It matters not because the public has seen it for what it is.

The New London Fire Fighters should soon have their endorsements out and we will soon be able to see the 2013 price of a vote for the fire fighters in the next round of election filings. We saw from the vile and continuous attacks on one city councilor from the shoplifting Fire Fighters union president and his member henchmen over the taxpayer funded big pension boost to the fire fighters that they expect to get the votes that they bought and paid for if their endorsed candidates are elected. This is regardless of the cost or impact to the community.

Maybe Mr. Collins should write a piece warning the people of New London of whose votes the New London Fire Fighters Union have bought and paid for and those candidates should not be elected. It would be interesting to see how many of those match with the list of five that that Collins warned the people of New London about today.
