Two New London Nonprofits Awarded State Funding

Two New London organizations were awarded a total of $188,055 in funding for several projects under the state 2014 Nonprofit Grant Program.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Thursday that 146 projects with 84 organizations have been selected to receive a total of $20 million in awards.

The Child and Family Agency of Southeatern CT was awarded $75,000 to replace a fire escape ($29,500) and for new windows and safety improvements ($45,500).

Safe Futures, Inc in New London is set to receive $113,055 for a roof replacement ($43,975) and site improvements ($69,080).

“Partnering with these organizations is a smart fiscal investment to ensure that these agencies can continue to provide services while doing so in an efficient, cost-effective way,” Malloy said during his announcement at Chrysalis Center, a provider agency slated to received funding to provide job training, employment services and conference space.

“This is the largest commitment our state has made to support and invest in these community-based organizations that provide critical services to individuals in every city and town in our state.”
