Special City Council Meeting On New London Budget Canceled

A special City Council meeting set for tonight to hold a second reading on New London's 2014 fiscal year budget proposal has been canceled.

Council President Michael Passero said some city councilors had issues arise over the weekend and that it made more sense to postpone the meeting. He said the city needs to give 48 hours' notice prior to the next meeting and that he is working to reschedule it.

"I'm just having trouble with everybody's schedules," he said. "I'm going to start the e-mail circuit going around."

The council must have three readings of the budget prior to the end of the month. Passero said the second reading may be added to the agenda of the next regular meeting of the Council on May 20 with a third reading to be scheduled before the end of the month.
