Police Union Endorses Buscetto For Mayor

Members vote for Democratic candidate after interviews on Monday evening

, a Democratic candidate for mayor of New London, won the support of the New London Police Union on Monday evening.

AFSCME Local 724, which includes members from the , invited the mayoral candidates to the for interviews on Monday evening. According to a press release from union political action coordinator Charles Flynn, Buscetto and Democratic candidates and attended along with Republican candidate . Independent candidates and are also running for mayor.

The union's website says over 30 of the union's 93 members attended the event and that "all candidates [performed] well under tough questions." Flynn said members voted "overwhelmingly" for Buscetto when ballots were cast.

"After the interviews our members decided Mike Buscetto has the vision and determination to turn New London around and we like his "One City, One Team" approach to problem solving" said Darrin O'Mara, president of the union, in the release. "Local 724 has been politically active for many years in local, state and federal elections and our endorsements go beyond words. We stand with our candidates ready to help in any election."

Flynn added, "Mike Buscetto and his family have a long tradition of supporting New London public safety, we are excited to have the opportunity to support Mike  and turn his visions of a better New London into reality."
