New London Sues Homeowner Over Alleged Commercial Volleyball Court

Couple faces $2,500 fine

This is one of those weird but true stories coming out of New London.

The town is suing a coupe that owns property at 18 Viets Street alleging they are operating a commercial volleyball league from their own backyard, the New London Day reports.

Edinson G. Mizhquiri and Judith Fajardo own the property, and claim that the volleyball is just played with friends, and it’s not an organized league, the Day reports.

The city did approve allowing them to operate the volleyball court, but lately they have run afoul of land use officials because the net is higher than eight feet off the ground and they installed more lighting than was approved, the Day reports.

The couple could also face a $2,500 fine.
