New London Residents Given Heads Up On Winter Parking Restrictions

City issues rule for snow emergencies

The city has issued the parking regulations that will be used in the event of snow emergencies this winter.

Downtown parking during these conditions is not allowed, although residents who live downtown may park free of charge in the Water Street Parking Garage during snow emergencies. Residents in other areas of the city should park on the even numbered side of the street or follow posted signs on one-way streets.

Vehicles that do not comply with parking rules during snow emergencies are subject to towing or ticketing.

For more information on regulations during snow emergencies, follow local media, the Facebook page for Mayor Daryl Finizio's office, and the New London municipal website. The city's emergency broadcast speakers will also note when parking restrictions are in effect.

For ten years I feel the ban has not been enforced. It needs to be. It seems very little people pay attention to the odd/even rule. Tickets should be enforced. That, or plows should pile the snow on the cars of the non compliment.
If everyone went by the rules, there would be less snow to dig out your car. Also, every other year it is easier to dig out of your driveway, if you have one. Cooperation makes a community. Apathy makes a ghetto. Give a ****, move your Truck.

I understand the frustration of Seeth Ransom's comment but I have to point out that on our street everyone follows the parking ban rules and yet the City does not plow the "other " side of the street. The point of the parking ban is to allow the plows to remove the snow from the ENTIRE street except for the side where the cars are parked. Instead, we all move our cars to one side and after the plowing is done there is STILL no clear side of the street to park. I believe this may have something to do with why some folks don't bother with moving the car---they feel as if there is no point to it....

Does he live in the condo at the Harbor House? Does he rent it out? Is the house in Mansfield aRead More rental property? Does he think that just because he has a property in New London and may not truly reside in it, that he is a New London resident. I would be interested in hearing his spin on this.

You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people when they haveRead More Kathleen Mitchell looking out for them. This is just sickening how with all the evidence that Kathleen has provided that Jeff Smith is not suspended as of today. The arrogance of this entire administration is beyond belief. I want to know what the Mayor has to say about this and I also would like to hear from Macrino, Hyslop and Passero.
