Food is taking precedence for this week’s picks in ’s upcoming events, but let’s take a quick look at tonight first. ’s “Summer Flickers” series is going on until the equinox, and tonight’s the second to last film. Cinema Paradiso shows at 8 p.m.
All right, on to the meals. As usual, Friday sees the Field of Greens Farmers Market at from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while holds their traditional wine and cheese tasting from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. that evening. The holds a social hour and dinner at an event honoring Martin Olsen, Ron Samul, Barbara Neff, Ricky Free and members of the New London Beautification and City Center District committees; starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, and the $15 tickets are available at the lodge or the night of the event. Finally, celebrates New London’s heritage with food and music at from noon to 5 p.m.; Hygienic Art will join in with an exhibit entitled “Italian Visions/Visioni Italiano.”
It’s a good week for music, and there’s a chance to get involved. The Chorus is holding auditions for new members from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at Leamy Hall at the ; e-mail Sheri Pellerin at ecscpresident@gmail.com set up an appointment. hosts at 7:30 p.m., bringing in Dan Stevens and Darin Keech; tickets are $8 in advance or for students, $10 at the door. And history once again puts in a strong showing. The holds its annual meeting at 4 p.m. on Sunday; the cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Municipal historian Sally Ryan brings back her , and anyone interested should call the to reserve a spot. The next lecture takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
