Governor Visiting New London Shipyard, Waterford Company On Saturday

Dannel Malloy will also endorse New London's Democratic ticket

Gov. Dannel Malloy will pay a visit to southeastern Connecticut this weekend, stopping at a New London shipyard and Waterford technology company.

Malloy will tour the and in New London on Saturday morning. The shipyard was awarded a $2 million state bond grant in August, triggering a $1.5 million federal grant from the United States Maritime Administration. The funds will go toward expanding the capabilities of the shipyard to allow it to take on a greater workload, with projects such as dredging to allow access to larger ships and the expansion of a drydock. Earlier this month, Malloy announced that New London's deep water port was . Malloy will speak with the management team and staff in the capital improvement project at the shipyard and view the progress of construction.

Malloy will also visit Lumachip Inc. in Waterford on Saturday. The company specializes in lightweight LED lighting technology. Here, Malloy will discuss his goals in an upcoming special jobs session of the Connecticut General Assembly.
