UPDATE: Gov. Malloy Will Visit New London For Town Hall Discussion

Governor in midst of 17-town tour to discuss financial issues

Governor Dannel Malloy will be in New London on Wednesday evening to host a town hall discussion on the issues facing the state.

The event will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Jennings Elementary School. It is free and open to the public.

Malloy began holding a series of meetings across Connecticut last month, beginning on Feb. 21 in Bridgeport. The meetings will end on April 6 in Danbury. The purpose of the meetings is to hear public input on matters related to the state’s budget and finances.

“It really is my preference to be out there, talking with people in the flesh, hearing their thoughts and communicating in a civil manner that will bring out the best and most productive changes benefitting the state of Connecticut,” Malloy said in a press release.  “It’s important that we have a chance to talk about some of the changes I’m proposing to help create new jobs and get our state’s fiscal house in order, and I want to hear what people think.”

  • Attendees are asked to be seated in the gymnasium by 6:45 p.m.
  • Anyone who wishes to address the governor will be asked to line up behind the microphone that will be setup for public comments and questions.
  • Should all the seats be taken in the gym - seating will be available in the cafeteria where a screen will be setup to watch the proceedings.

Parking:

  • Staff from the New London Public Schools is asked to park in the Central Office parking lot on Waller Street (in front of ).
  • Jennings School parking lot
  • The lower parking lot in front of the middle school gym
  • The parking lot will also be available
