Finizio Joins Mayors Against Illegal Guns

Organization pledges to combat illegal acquisition and use of firearms

Mayor Daryl Finizio announced Tuesday that he has become a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

"Mayors Against Illegal Guns strives to find innovative ways to punish criminals that possess, use and traffic illegal guns," said Zak Leavy, Finizio's executive assistant, in a press release. "The coalition works to develop technology that will track and find illegal guns and those that are involved in trafficking. Furthermore, they support all local, state and federal legislation that targets illegal drugs and coordinates enforcement strategies dealing with trafficking."

The organization states on its website that it is a non-partisan group, that it supports Second Amendment rights, and that it recognizes that the majority of gun dealers and owners abide by the law. Members from Connecticut include Mayor Pedro E. Segarra of Hartford and Mayor John DeStefano of New Haven.
