Family Of State Department Hardship Post Employee Recognized

State Department, City Council honor local man and family

A local family received recognition from both the State Department and City Council on Monday night for a member's service in a hardship post.

The presentation was made at the beginning of the City Council meeting to the Schmidt family "in recognition of their sacrifice during a parent's service to the United States Department of State." Adam Schmidt, an elections and political processes lead with the United States Agency for International Development, has been stationed at the hardship post of Kabul, Afghanistan.

The presentation recognized Adam, his wife Kelly, and their three children: Phineas, Eleanora, and Owen.
