About The Law Enforcement Torch Run®

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics Connecticut is one of the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicles. This year round program involves law enforcement from across the state who volunteer their time to raise awareness and funds through events such as Tip-a-Cops, Cop-on-Tops, Jail N’ Bails, etc. In 2010 the Torch Run raised over $500,000 for SOCT.  In addition, each June (8-10, 2011) over 1,500 LETR officers and athletes carry the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" through hundreds of cities and towns across the state, covering over 530 miles before running into the Opening Ceremonies at Summer Games (June 10-12, 2011).
