The Democratic candidates for the United States Senate will go head to head on Monday before a New London audience.
The televised debate between Susan Bysiewicz and Chris Murphy will begin at 7 p.m. at the . Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and no one will be admitted after 6:50 p.m. to ensure that people are seated in time for the start of the event.
The debate is sponsored by and WTNH. It will be broadcast live on the newspaper's website as well as MyTV9, the sister station of WTNH.
Bysiewicz is a former state representative who served as Secretary of State for Connecticut from 1998 to 2011. Murphy is a former state representative and senator who has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since his election in 2006.
The candidates are seeking the Senate seat which will be vacated when Senator Joe Lieberman retires at the end of his current term. The Democratic primary will take place on Aug. 14.
