Two people have been hired to join the workforce in the City Clerk's Office, Mayor Daryl Finizio and City Clerk Nathan Caron announced on Thursday.
Dawn E. Currier will be the new assistant city clerk, while Raquel Graham will be the new records technician. Caron said he felt the hires will put a "'dream team' in place in the ."
Currier, an attorney, has worked as a title searcher in New London County for 14 years and has also managed her own retail business for a decade. She currently lives in Uncasville, but will move to New London to accept the position. Graham is a New London resident and has worked for 10 years as a translator and records keeper for Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Finizio said the new hires will fully staff the City Clerk's Office. He said each new employee brings a valuable set of skills to the job, and said Graham's fluency in Spanish will be especially helpful.
"In a city where one in four resident is of Hispanic heritage and where many residents speak only Spanish, it is invaluable to have someone in this central city office (that is the first point of contact with the public) who can translate Spanish fluently,” said Finizio.
