Firefighters respond to blaze on Holly Terrace on Sunday afternoon
An elderly woman rescued from her burning home by firefighters on Sunday has died.
Michael O'Farrell, spokesman for Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, confirmed that Isabelle Roth passed away today. Roth was found not breathing in the dining room of her home at 18 Holly Terrace after the New London Fire Department responded to a blaze there.
The cause of the fire, which caused significant damage to the first floor of the two-story residence, remains under investigation.

Battalion Chief Henry Kydd of the said the call for a structure fire came in at about 3 p.m. Kydd said flames were coming out of the front and side windows of the residence at 18 Holly Terrace.
“We were told en route that we might have a victim inside, so we deployed a line and attacked the fire while other crews did a search,” Kydd said.

Kydd said the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. The fire marshal was examining the cause of the fire.
