Three Charged In New London Moped Robberies

The New London Police Department arrested three people on Saturday morning after they allegedly stole two mopeds at gunpoint.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said 18-year-olds Hassan Foster-Carney, of 320 Central Ave. in Norwich, and Dwayne Miller, of 26 Jefferson Ave., were charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree larceny. A juvenile male was also arrested.

Reichard said the juvenile reportedly rode in a vehicle with other subjects and followed a moped rider, using a gun to steal the moped at about 12:40 a.m. in the Ashcraft Road area. He said the same juvenile, along with Foster-Carney and Miller, are also accused of stealing another moped at gunpoint in the Wendy's parking lot on Colman Street a few hours later.

No one was injured in either incident. Police arrested the three individuals at about 4:45 a.m. after interviews with witnesses and other information.

Foster-Carney and Miller are being held on $50,000 bonds. The juvenile was taken to a juvenile detention facility in Hartford.
