Suspect Arrested In New London Vehicle Burglaries

A 19-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly breaking into a vehicle, and police suspect him in other recent vehicle burglaries in New London.

Joshua Allen, of 9 Wausau Place, was charged with third-degree burglary, interfering with police, sixth-degree larceny, and possession of hallucinogens.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard of the New London Police Department said Wednesday that officers responded to Riverview Ave. at about 1:45 a.m. on Monday for a report of two men breaking into a car. Officers found Allen walking about two blocks from the scene and searched a knapsack he was carrying.

Reichard said the knapsack had electronic items from a different vehicle burglary. He said Allen also had synthetic marijuana and initially gave police a false name.

Reichard said officers are preparing warrants for Allen as a suspect in several recent vehicle burglaries. He said a second suspect has also been identified and an investigation is continuing.
