Sex Charges Against Former Friendship School Administrator May be Dismissed

The 30-year statute of limitations may not apply.

The former assistant director of Waterford’s Friendship School was arrested and charged with statutory rape more than two years ago but now prosecutors may be willing to drop the case.

Allison Robinson, a 38-year-old New London woman, is accused of sexually assaulting an East Lyme Middle School student when she was employed by the district 13 years ago and she was in her early 20s. The victim filed the claim in 2011 when the state believed they could take advantage of the 30-year retroactive statute of limitations.

A report in The Day says that Robinson’s defense attorney has asked the court to dismiss the case because of the 2012 decision in State v. Brundage, which says that since the offense took place before 2002 the state can’t take advantage of the 30-year statute. Prosecutors said they would not oppose the motion.

Patch reported earlier that the victim, Amadeus Harris, was 13-14 years old at the time met Robinson (then Allison Hitte) when she was the school psychologist overseeing an anger management group. He says she started flirting with him and a personal and sexual relationship ensued. He said she had also provided him and his friends with alcohol.

At the time, Robinson denied the allegations. A recent report inThe Day says she was considering a guilty plea in exchange for a shortened jail sentence.
