Several Injured In Fight At Motorcycle Club

New London man, 27, undergoes emergency surgery for life-threatening abdomen wound

Four people were seriously injured, one with a wound considered life-threatening, at an altercation at a downtown motorcycle club early this morning.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard of the New London Police Department said a 27-year-old New London man was slashed across the abdomen with an edged weapon. He was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital, and was still in emergency surgery as of this morning.

Reichard said police received several 911 calls at about 3:30 a.m. reporting a victim of a stabbing outside 111 Bank Street. Officers were later notified that several people had arrived at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital with assault injuries and that the incident had occurred at the Wild Style Motorcycle Club, located at the rear of 130 Bank Street.

Reichard said a brawl broke out inside the clubhouse and extended into the parking lot and South Water Street. Also injured were a 28-year-old Guilford resident, who was struck in the head and face with a large wooden object; a 33-year-old New London man, who broke his leg while fleeing the scene; and a 31-year-old New London man, who suffered cuts to his ear and neck.

Police are still investigating the assaults and are withholding the names of the victims at this time. Anyone with information on the incident may make a confidential call to the New London Police Department Detective's Division at 860-447-1481.
