Police Respond To Suicidal Man On Starr Street

New London Police Department evacuates homes early this morning on report of man with gun

The evacuated some homes on Starr Street early this morning after receiving a report of a suicidal man possibily in possession of a firearm in a residence on the street.

Chief Margaret Ackley said the department received the report at 12:53 a.m. Nearby houses were cleared and the street was blocked off. The Connecticut State Police was also called to provide assistance.

Ackley said officers spoke with the man by cell phone and that he left the house at about 2:18 a.m. He was taken by ambulance to . Police confiscated two semiautomatic pistols, included one which was loaded, as well as a shotgun and two rifles.
