Police Investigate Possible Robbery Attempt

Police called after report of masked men outside Ocean Ave. store

Police are investigating a possible attempted robbery that occurred Tuesday night at on Ocean Avenue.

The incident was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. According to Deputy Chief Marshall Segar of the , an employee at the 24-hour convenience store saw two black men, about six feet tall and wearing dark masks and black hooded sweatshirts, approaching the door. The employee told police neither displayed a weapon but that both had their hands in their pockets.

The employee said he opened the door "a little bit" as the men approached, then closed it and shouted to a co-worker to call the police. The men then fled on foot on Sherman Street.

Segar said a K-9 team from Troop E of the Connecticut State Police was called in, but did not find the men or any evidence.
