UPDATE: Police Continue To Investigate Friday Accident

Woman in stable condition after being hit by car

Police are continuing to investigate a Friday evening accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a car.

Deputy Chief Marshall Segar of the New London Police Department said an accident reconstruction team is continuing to look into the incident, which occurred in the area of Colman Street and Redden Ave. The woman hit by the car, 58-year-old Idel Beddoe, remains in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Police arrested 23-year-old Felipe Echavarria of 178 Montauk Ave. on charges of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle while intoxicated, evading responsibility, possession of narcotics, and driving while intoxicated. He was later released on a $25,000 surety bond.
