Police Ask Public Assistance In Finding Missing New London Man

The has asked for public assistance in locating a missing 26-year-old New London man, who was last seen on Feb. 8.

Deputy Chief Marshall Segar said Ryan Chapman has been listed as a missing person with the National Criminal Information center. Segar said officers and detectives in the department are conducting an active search for Chapman.

Chapman is described as a white male, six feet three inches tall and 250 pounds. He has blue eyes, facial piercings, a Japanese symbol on his left forearm, and dark blonde hair which may be in a mohawk cut. Friends of Chapman reported that he may be suicidal or in need of psychiatric help.

Segar said Chapman was reported missing on Feb. 4, but was seen the next day at the . Chapman was also reported missing on Feb. 7, and no confirmed contact has been made with him since a visit to the Homeless Hospitality Center the next day. A call from Chapman's cell phone on Feb. 19 was traced to Griswold, and sightings of Chapman in downtown New London have been reported as recently as Feb. 20. Other unconfirmed reports said Chapman was in Florida.

Segar said there is no warrant for Chapman's arrest but he may believe he is wanted by police on a charge of failing to comply with his probation. Anyone with information on Chapman is asked to call their local police department.
