One Alleged Drug Factory in New London; Two Men Arrested

Police arrested two Jefferson Avenue men after a lengthy investigation.

During a search and seizure operation on Jefferson Avenue in New London, police arrested two men on various drug-related charges.

At approximately 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, officers and detectives served a search and seizure warrant at 365 Jefferson Ave., after a lengthy investigation. During the search, law enforcement officers located evidence of drug dealing, a firearm and firearm accessories, according to police.

Raashid Cox, 24, of 365 Jefferson Ave., was arrested on the following charges:
  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Altering or removing the identification mark of a firearm
  • Carrying a pistol without a permit
  • Possession of marijuana with intent to sell
  • Possession of marijuana within 1500 feet of a housing project
  • Operating a drug factory
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Lamont Waites, 19, of 365 Jefferson Ave., was arrested on the following charges:

  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of marijuana with intent to sell
  • Possession of marijuana within 1500 feet of a housing project
  • Operating a drug factory
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

The New London Police Department’s VIS Unit, Investigative Division and Patrol Division, assisted by troopers from the Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit and Statewide Narcotics Unit and a K-9 Officer from the Department of Homeland Security, participated in the seizure.
