NL Police Probe Knifepoint Robbery of Convenience Store

According to police, a slim, short white man in his 20s held up Sunshine Convenience store mid-day Saturday and fled toward Hempstead Street with the proceeds.

New London police are looking for a man they say robbed the Sunshine Convenience Store on Broad Street at knifepoint today.

According to a release from Deputy Chief Peter Reichard, at 12:39 this afternoon a man entered the convenience store, located at 84 Broad St., and approached the counter, brandishing a knife. The suspect demanded — and received — money from the clerk, then fled the scene on foot eastbound on Broad toward Hempstead Street with an undetermined amount of cash. The clerk was not hurt.

According to police, the suspect is a white man in his 20s between 5 foot, 3 inches and 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray zip-up hoodie.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the New London Police Department at 860-447-1481. All calls will remain confidential.

I didn't know they were robbed and I only live three houses away. These are very nice people that own this store and do not deserve this.

The mayor and council president will lie and cheat to protect the mayor's unqualified and dishonestRead More people. The council and the council leadership is supposed to act as a check and balance in this new form of government. Mr. Smith is one of those dishonest people. It is sad that this person can be so dishonest and that the so called leaders in the community back the dishonest person rather than standing up for the taxpayers and people that really do live here and pay taxes. As a finance director Mr. Smith knows the importance of the proper tax town for vehicles, so he cannot claim ignorance. Is he is breaking the law because the taxes in Windham are lower or because he truly lives in Windham?
