Waterford Police arrested a group of New London teens allegedly caught in the act of trying to steal motorcycles, dirt bikes, and ATVs from garden sheds and outbuildings in Waterford this week.

Police, however, suspect that this particular group may have been active before now and are warning residents who have such vehicles to keep them under lock and key because not all the suspects were apprehended.

Waterford Police say they caught the alleged thieves in the wee hours of the night on August 19 and 20. Waterford Police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile and Yojang Torres, 19, of 168 Laurel Drive, New London. Torres was charged with Criminal Trespass Second Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, and Assault on a Safety or Emergency Personnel. He was arraigned at GA 10 in New London on Monday.

On Tuesday, Waterford Police arrested Manuel Ortiz, 19, of 187 Huntington Street, New London; Emanuel Rivera, 19, of 130 Cedar Grove New London; Steven Colon, 19, of 197 Montauk Avenue, New London, and a 17-year-old juvenile. All were charged with Conspiracy to Commit Crime, Criminal Trespass Second Degree, Burglary Third Degree, and Criminal Mischief Second Degree. Colon was also charged with Assault Third Degree.

One of the suspects, known only by the street name “Yo Yo”, was driving the vehicle and managed to escape.

Police are asking anyone with any information regarding Yo-Yo's actual identity or know where stolen motorcycles or ATVs may be located, please contact the Waterford Police on Facebook via direct message, by phone at 860-442-9451, or to the investigating Officer, Officer Surdo at nsurdo@waterfordct.org. All information will be kept confidential.

These idiots should spend at least 2-3 years in prison or more. The parents should also be brought to trial and held responsible. There are a bunch of scum bags in this city that need to be corrected/deported. Thank to the NL Police for their crime fighting efforts, we need you guys out there!

They need a combined effort and round up all these crimminals. The kid that stole mine ? once proven will get 2 felonies. I can only hope. Too light a sentenance is right, My bike is $8000.00 new I still owe $3600 on it and some punk stole it most likely for drugs, Id rather see a these punks get a bullet to the head they won't learn and they will keep stealing, I know who stole mine and it's a matter of time til I can prove it. I will NEVER STOP either Til he's at least in jail.
