New London Police Investigate Reported Taxi Robbery

Driver said he was robbed at gunpoint on Robinson Street

The New London Police Department is investigating a reported robbery of a taxi driver on Halloween night.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said a Yellow Cab driver contacted police at 10:59 p.m. on Wednesday to report the incident. The driver said a man got into the cab while it was parked at Union Station and that he drove the man to Robinson Street.

The driver said his passenger took out a dark handgun at that location and demanded money. The driver complied and the man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Reichard said detectives are investigating the incident and further details are unavailable at this time.
