New London Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting

The New London Police Department is investigating a shooting early Friday morning that wounded a 19-year-old man.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said a Jay Street resident reported shots fired at about 12:25 a.m. and saw someone being carried down the street. Officers responded to find 19-year-old Jose Rosado, of 40 Crystal Ave., with an apparent gunshot wound to his foot. Rosado was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of the injury.

Reichard said the suspect in the shooting is described as a black man wearing a white tank top. He was with a large group walking across the street from Rosado. Police also recovered 40-caliber shell casings at the scene, which was closed to traffic and pedestrians for several hours following the incident.

Anyone with information on the shooting should contact the New London Police Department's Detective Division at 860-447-1481. Calls may be kept confidential.
