New London Police Charge Gales Ferry Man With Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Shayne A. Buckley was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor and sexual assault in the first degree. Police suspect he may have been sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl for six years.

On August 24, 2013, the New London Police Department initiated an investigation into allegation that an adult male had sexually abused a 12-year-old female victim at a home on Bishop Court.

Through investigation, police learned that Shayne A. Buckley, 37, whose last know address is 1500 Route 12, #19, Gales Ferry, had been sexually abusing a female juvenile who is a family member for a approximately six years.

On August 24, 2013 Buckley was placed under arrest and charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor, he was held on a $50,000 bond. On September 9, 2013 Buckley appeared in court at GA10  for the August 24, 2013 arrest, at which time the New London Police Department served an additional arrest warrant on Buckley charging him with Risk of Injury to a Minor (3 counts) Sexual Assault First Degree (3 counts) and Sexual Assault Fourth Degree (1 count).

Buckley was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and transferred to a local correctional facility.
