New London Police Arrest Suspect in Home Invasion

Police arrived during an alleged robbery in progress at a home on Denison Avenue.

On December 5, New London Police responded to a call about a robbery in progress at 23 Denison Avenue. Police arrived on the scene to find Mychael Wright, 41, of 99 Cedar Street in Norwich, inside the home, which was occupied by one man and a 4-year-old child.

Police learned that Wright, who had previously lived at the address and was acquainted with at least one of the residents, had kicked in the door to gain entry to the home. Police say he was armed with a knife and demanding money that he said was owed to him by a resident who was not home at the time.

Police say none of the home's occupants appeared to be injured but that the child was taken to L+M Hospital to be checked out as a precaution.

Police charged Wright with home invasion, risk of injury to a minor, robbery in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, threatening in the second degree, and larceny in the sixth degree. He was being held on a $250,000 cash/surety bond.
