A 24-year-old man wanted by the Stonington Police Department on outstanding warrants was arrested Tuesday in New London.
Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard of the said Wayne Williams was arrested at about 10:37 p.m. at 1 Farnsworth Ave. The NLPD charged Williams with first-degree burglary, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, interfering with police, and assault on a police officer.
Reichard said Williams was wanted on the Stonington warrants as well as a parole violation. He said Williams escaped through an open window and officers arrested him after a brief foot chase. Tammy Wheeler, 42, was charged with interfering with police after she was accused of trying to intervene in the arrest.
