New London Police Arrest Man on Firearms Charges

On Friday, July 18, the New London Police Department received a call from a concerned citizen that a man was observed with a  handgun in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Colman Street. 

The caller was able to give a description of the man. The initial officer on scene observed four men fitting the description given, standing in front of 372 Jefferson Ave. at approximately 5:37 p.m.

When an additional officer arrived, the four men were patted down for weapons. During the patdown of Kyle Gardiner, 25, no address known, the officer felt a handgun in the sack-pack Gardiner was wearing, according to police.

The fully loaded handgun was secured and Gardiner was arrested on the following charges:

  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm without a permit
  • Breach of peace
