New London Man Killed In Sunday Crash
Afzaal Muhammad, 54, and Mystic woman die in Route 9 accident
A New London man and Mystic woman were killed Sunday morning in a car accident on Route 9 in Essex.
The accident killed 54-year-old Afzaal Muhammad of New London and 28-year-old Eunmi Yoon of Mystic, according to WTNH. The station reports that the Connecticut State Police are investigating the accident and believe one of the drivers was traveling the wrong way on the highway, leading to a head-on collision.
The accident occurred about half a mile south of Exit 3 on the northbound route, according to the Middletown Press. The road was shut down for several hours while emergency responders worked on the scene.
