New London Firefighters Union President, Wife Charged with Shoplifting

Lt. Rocco Basilica and Jaqueline Basilica were arrested after an incident at the UConn bookstore.

The president of the New London Firefighters Union, Lt. Rocco Basilica, and his wife were both arrested for suspicion of shoplifting at the University of Connecticut co-op bookstore in June. 

According to a report in The Day, police reports allege that Rocco left the store with three key chains, a pair of socks, a plastic cup, and two t-shirts, which totaled $81.93. Reports also allege that his wife Jaqueline left the store with a t-shirt valued at $24.99. 

Both were charged with sixth-degree larceny and appeared in court on July 9 and applied for accelerated rehabilitation, which is available for first time, non-violent offenders.
