New London Firefighters Pipes And Drums Holding St. Patrick's Day Party

Event will benefit organization, name queen and court for St. Patrick's Day parade

The New London Firefighters Pipes and Drums will bring an Irish party to the Crocker House this weekend.

The group is sponsoring a St. Patrick’s Party and Performance from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Crocker House Ballroom. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door and may be purchased at the New London Fire Department Headquarters, Neff Productions, or from any band member. Tickets may also be purchased by calling 860-443-3786.

The event will include food, wine, and beer as well as live Irish music by Marc Bernier and Irish step dancers from Spirited Soles Irish Dance Academy. The pipe and drum corps will also perform throughout the evening.

During the event, the New London St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee will announce its pick for the queen and court to preside at the March 17 parade in New London. The committee recently named municipal historian Sally Ryan as the grand marshal of the parade.

Saturday's event will be a fundraiser for the New London Firefighters Pipes and Drums, which was formed in 2001 as a way for the department's firefighters and family members to perform at firefighter funerals, memorial services, ceremonies, parades, and other functions.
