Neighbors Extinguish Home Street Fire

New London Fire Department responds to small blaze at multifamily home

A small fire on the outside corner of the multifamily residence at 12 Home Street was quickly doused this afternoon.

Battalion Chief Keith Nichols of the said neighbors used fire extinguishers to put out the fire, which was reported at about 2 p.m. this afternoon. Nichols said there was a considerable amount of smoke remaining when firefighters arrived, but that the blaze had been knocked down with minimal damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No utilities were shut off, and tenants were able to stay in the residence.
