Man Injured In Pipe Assault

New London Police Department investigates Tuesday afternoon incident

The is investigating a Tuesday afternoon assault in which a 33-year-old man was hit in the head with a pipe.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said the incident took place at 4:05 p.m. in the area of Hempstead Street and Manwaring Street. The man's injuries were not life-threatening and he was treated at .

Reichard said police believe the assailants knew the man and attacked him in retaliation for a previous incident. The victim's name is not being released due to the ongoing investigation.
