The New London Police Department arrested a 26-year-old man on Sunday afternoon on charges that he had guns and a weapon on him during a motor vehicle stop.
Irock Z. Hill has been charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm, and possession of marijuana. Hill is being held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
According to Deputy Chief Peter Reichard, Hill was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for equipment and moving violations at 1:33 p.m. near the intersection of Bank Street and Pearl Street. Reichard said officers noted a smell of marijuana in the car and that Hill admitted that he was in possession of marijuana and other items.
Reichard said a search discovered a clear plastic bag and several clear capsules of a white powder as well as a Colt .22L "Camp Perry Special" revolver.
Hill was previously convicted of misdemeanor marijuana possession and breach of peace in 2010. He received a suspended prison sentence and probationary term.
