Man Charged In Downtown Assault, Robbery

New London Police arrest 31-year-old man on Sunday

The New London Police Department arrested a man in connection with an assault and robbery early on Sunday and are looking for information on a second suspect.

Acting Chief Peter Reichard said 31-year-old Darryl Ladson, of 43 Williams Street, was arrested on charges of second-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, and third-degree assault. Ladson was being held on a $100,000 cash or surety bond.

Reichard said police responded to 36 Bank Street at 1:18 a.m. for a report of a person who had been assaulted in the alleyway there. The victim said two black men had assaulted and robbed him, and a witness identified Ladson - who was walking away from the scene down Bank Street - as one of the people involved. The victim identified Ladson after he was stopped by police.

He was convicted last month of second-degree strangulation and violation of a protective order and sentenced to serve 30 days of a three-year prison sentence with two years of probation.

The victim received minor injuries in the incident. Police are seeking the second suspect, and anyone with information should contact the Detective Division at 860-447-1481.
