Man Arrested On Plethora Of Charges After Chase Leads To Crash

Damien Bartholomew and passenger arrested after accident and foot chase

A 32-year-old man was arrested on a total of 11 charges after crashing into a vehicle while allegedly fleeing from police.

Damien Bartholomew, of 31 Blinman Street, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, assault on a police officer, interfering with police, tampering with evidence, evading responsibility, reckless driving, driving under suspension, engaging an officer in pursuit, and failing to use a turn signal. Police also arrested Bartholomew's passenger, 26-year-old Larry Brinkley of 36 Branford Ave. in Groton, on charges of possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard of the New London Police Department said an officer attempted to stop Bartholomew on vehicle and drug charges at about 4:32 p.m. on Tuesday. Reichard said Bartholomew tried to escape, driving from Jefferson Ave. to Wall Street and on to Summer Street, Bank Street, and Lee Ave.
