Identity Withheld On Body Found At Waterfront Park
New London Police Department awaits more information on woman found this morning; death is not considered suspicious
is awaiting further information on a woman who was found dead at this morning.
Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said a person went to the police headquarters at about 7:45 a.m. this morning to report the body. The woman, who was found underneath a pier at a rocky area of the waterfront, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reichard said the death is not considered suspicious at this time.

The State Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy on the body on Thursday to formally identify the woman and determine the cause of death. The identity of the woman is being withheld pending this process and notification of relatives.
The department's detectives are investigating the woman's activities prior to her death.
