Four Arrested Following A Search That Yielded More Than a Pound of Drugs

New London Police were joined by Connecticut State Police and NCIS during the early morning search of an apartment on Coit Street in New London.

Four people were arrested on narcotics charges following a drug raid conducted earlier today by New London Police Department, Connecticut State Police, and Naval Criminal Investigation Service (NCIS).

The arrests followed an investigation during which New London VICE officers developed information that narcotics were being stored and sold from an apartment on Coit Street. A search warrant for apartment 2 at 59 Coit Street was executed during the early morning hours of October 9.

Members of the New London Police Department VICE and Narcotics Division carried out the search in conjunction with NCIS, Connecticut State Police Emergency Services, and Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Eastern District.

During the search, police found more than a pound of synthetic marijuana, crack cocaine, marijuana, liquid codeine, packaging material, scales and other items of drug paraphernalia at the apartment. At the time of the execution of the search warrant several adults and six minor children were inside the residence.

The search resulted in the arrest of four men: Daniel Defreese, 24; Cain Defreese, 20; Jose Caban, 37; and Elijah Walker, 24. All four men were charged with possession of synthetic marijuana, possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession of synthetic marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cain Defreese was also charged with interfering with arrest. Caban faces additional charges of possession of narcotics; possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and risk of injury to a minor.

Bond was set at $75,000 for Caban and Daniel Defreese and at $50,000 for Cain Defreese and Walker. All four were held in lieu of bond.
