Woman Dies After Motorcycle Accident in New London [UPDATE]
A 51-year-old motorcyclist died in the accident.
On Saturday, July 19, at 1:14 p.m., the City of New London Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls about a motorcyclist who was involved in a crash near 951 Bank St., New London Police stated via Facebook.
Police officers who were first on the scene reported that the 51-year-old female operator had sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, where she died due to the injuries she sustained in the crash, police said. She was wearing a helmet at the time.
The preliminary investigation shows that the motorcyclist exited the business at 951 Bank St., with the intention of turning right to travel westbound on Bank Street.
"It appears that the operator of the motorcycle crossed the double yellow line and struck a commercial box truck, which was traveling Eastbound on Bank Street," according to police.
