Baby Dies After Allegedly Being Shaken By 24-Year-Old Father In New London

Adam Browne is charged with risk of injury to a minor and first-degree assault. He is reportedly on suicide watch.

A baby has died after allegedly being shaken by his father in New London, WTNH News 8 has reported. 

A 24-year-old New London man is now in jail after being accused by police of shaking his two month old child until the baby became unconscious. The baby was taken to a nearby hospital and passed away on Saturday night. 

The incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 25, when New London Police responded to a report from a residence in the city that the two-month old child was unconscious. The New London Fire Department's ambulance crew rushed the baby to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where the baby was treated for life-threatening injuries that didn't appear to have been caused accidentally.

Adam Browne, 24, has been charged risk of injury to a minor and first-degree assault. Browne is being held on a $500,000 cash surety bond pending arraignment at New London Superior Court.WTNH reports that Browne is now on suicide watch.
