Annual Connecticut College OVCS Community Learning and Volunteer Fair

The Connecticut College Office of Volunteers for Community Service (OVCS) will host its annual Community Learning and Volunteer Fair this Wednesday from 3-5PM in the Crozier-Williams College Center.

The Connecticut College Office of Volunteers for Community Service (OVCS) will host its annual Community Learning and Volunteer Fair on Wednesday, September 5 from 3-5 p.m. in the Crozier-Williams College Center. 

Students, staff, and faculty can speak with representatives of organizations and programs about community learning and volunteer opportunities in the New London area. There are a wide range of projects and placements available including economic development assistants, mentors, tutors, home builders, artists, computer interns, researchers, and medical assistants.

Agencies attending the fair include: New London Public Schools, Community Health Center, Mystic Aquarium, Ocean Beach, New London Homeless Hospitality Center, Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, FRESH New London, Fiddleheads Food Co-op, OIC, and the New London Public Library. OVCS programs include Mentoring Programs, America Reads Challenge Tutorial Program, the Arbo Project, and Project Kids, Books and Athletics.

Participants at the Fair can register to vote and college students can sign up for work-study positions. Students enrolled in service-learning courses can explore options that meet course requirements. Connecticut College OVCS encourages all members of the community to get involved and work with others for social justice and positive change.  There are a variety of excellent opportunities to learn and work within the New London community and the involvements will provide valuable experience, skill development, and knowledge.

The Fair brings community members and organizations to Connecticut College to join with the campus community to better understand vital issues and how to best address the issues.
