The Citizens Bank Foundation awards $7,500 to Thames River Community Service

The Citizens Bank Foundation has awarded $7,500 to Thames River Community Service to support their family core programming. The Thames River Family Program (TRFP) is a 24 apartment residential transitional living program which provides an environment where formerly homeless woman pursue goals of self-sufficiency, independence from public assistance and effective parenting skills. The grant will support TRFP’s five major areas of programming: Family Support Services, Child Development, Career Development, Recovery and Mental Health Wellness, and Tenancy and Housing Retention.

TRFP supports and assists women to be employed, to develop life skills, and to leave the program with an achievable plan for successful, independent living. At any given time, 40 to 50 formerly-homeless children live at TRFP. Providing a home for women and children for up to two years, Thames River, also offers comprehensive case management and weekly trainings five by Child and Family Advocates and other presenters.
