Save our field?

Are the people of New London going to get behind saving the Veterans Field like they did with Riverside Park? I would expect the Green Party and those people involved in save Riverside to be fighting to preserve this open space just like Riverside Park. An election is coming up and how the candidates handle this matter could have a big impact on the election.
