Political Animals, Episodes, Oprah's Next Chapter

TV tips for Sunday July 15, 2012

Political Animals, 10 p.m., USA

Hillary Clinton, anyone? In this mini-series, Sigourney Weaver plays a Hillary Clinton-esque character. The previews look good – it is a stellar cast – but how much of a ‘been there, done that’ feeling is too much? Here is the synopsis: “This drama …  explores the complex world of politics through a former first family that has experienced its highs and lows and is fighting political adversaries while struggling with the family members' own personal demons. Weaver stars as Elaine Barrish, who is appointed Secretary of State by President Paul Garcetti after losing to him in the presidential primary. While dealing with the usual crises of the State Department, Barrish also must try to keep her family together and fend off a hungry journalist who wants to destroy her political career.” The journalist is played by one of my favorites, Carla Gugino, so I will check it out.

Episodes, 10 p.m., Showtime

Merc’s father dies – and from the previews it might be the greatest Hollywood funeral ever – plus, Beverly finds out about Sean’s dalliance with Morning. Is there hope for this couple?

Oprah’s Next Chapter, 10 p.m., OWN

“Oprah visits magician David Copperfield on his private island.” No! Oprah, don’t go!!! It’s like The Island of Dr. Moreau except even weirder!

The mayor and council president will lie and cheat to protect the mayor's unqualified and dishonestRead More people. The council and the council leadership is supposed to act as a check and balance in this new form of government. Mr. Smith is one of those dishonest people. It is sad that this person can be so dishonest and that the so called leaders in the community back the dishonest person rather than standing up for the taxpayers and people that really do live here and pay taxes. As a finance director Mr. Smith knows the importance of the proper tax town for vehicles, so he cannot claim ignorance. Is he is breaking the law because the taxes in Windham are lower or because he truly lives in Windham?
